At Kew with the Rain Forest Club

On 16 May 2012 the Desert Dining Club met with the Rain Forest Club at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew at the kind invitation of Professor Stephen Hopper.  Tony Kirkham, Head of the Arboretum, conducted a tour, explaining some of the trees and the science involved.  A reception was held in the Princess of Wales Conservatory where the two clubs met in July 1986.  Photographs were taken in the Olympic Rings before supper and speeches in the Orangery.  Luc Gnascadja,  Executive Secretary of UN Convention to Combat Desertification, gave a talk on forests and desertification.
